We are a well-established web-based company whose accounting methods needed updating. As a retired CPA, I wanted our processes more in line with the sophisticated systems used in large private and public entities. We contacted Kathy for the specific purpose of helping us identify, select and implement systems that work for our needs. Kathy moved our QuickBooks program into the cloud where our management, our bookkeeper and myself could access it, all with appropriate levels of security. She helped us develop financial reports for a related company which greatly improved the information available for management decision making and created simple procedures to help us do much of this on our own.
The web-based invoice and payment approval system she recommended and implemented have improved our productivity, efficiency, payment times and provided much needed management tools. We are now able to approve invoices from our vendors on-line from anywhere in the world and they are paid electronically, automatically. Our office is almost paper-free with regard to payments and vendor records. We will take on automating travel and expense reports next.
Having worked with a number of different accounting systems in the past, I was concerned that this would be an expensive undertaking. Kathy accomplished everything with off-the-shelf solutions at reasonable implementation and ongoing costs and in a very timely manner. I would not hesitate to recommend Kathy’s business to anyone looking to upgrade their accounting processes.

Our company engaged Kathy McQuiggan, CPA to help get our financial books in order. Kathy worked tirelessly to bring our books into compliance. We recently purchased a manufacturing and distribution company and needed help with organizing, categorizing and compiling our financial reports in QuickBooks. Kathy worked day and night to organize all our financial information. After careful analysis she confirmed our suspicion that we had over paid for the business. Kathy was instrumental in providing us and our tax professional with the needed information and reports to help us successfully renegotiate a substantial reduction in the purchase price of our new business.
We highly recommend Kathy for her integrity, knowledge, professionalism, initiative, dependability and perseverance. We will continue to use Kathy for years to come.

Kathy has been an extraordinary asset for our non-profit organization. With her accounting skill and expertise, she was quickly able to analyze our financial situation and get our financial records in order, including putting financial controls and procedures in place for our effective management. These important financial controls and procedures had not been implemented under the leadership of two prior executive directors despite the direction to do so by our board of directors. Kathy now tracks all of our key financial and other metrics and is able to produce historical, pro forms and projected financial information and track our performance to budget and prior historical periods. As an added plus, Kathy has been able to provide our board of directors with the information the board needs to measure our historical and expected future performance in order to make important strategic decisions as it relates to many aspects of our organization, including our volunteers, students, corporate reading partners, donors and other stakeholders.

As a small business owner, we tend to think we can do it all and don’t need outside help. However, every day there are reminders that we are spending way too much time on things we don’t have expertise in, time which could be better used elsewhere. Even with an MBA in finance, I found the accounting side of my business consuming too many hours as I tried to navigate through QuickBooks. I reached out to Kathy for help and she quickly identified the critical issues, provided assistance and a roadmap for success, and did so in a supportive, positive manner. It is critical to have a team of business experts available to help and I am thrilled Kathy is on my team.

Kathy recently became my QuickBooks ProAdvisor for my company Straighten Up and I am delighted with her services. As a small business owner, I thought I could do the accounting myself. But I have found Kathy’s services to be indispensable to my business. She set up my account, worked with my bank, and started invoicing my clients in a professional manner immediately. Kathy is constantly seeking new information about small businesses and how to improve them. Kathy is creative, innovative and has accumulated a wealth of information that she shares with me and has been invaluable. She does more than just my accounting; she counsels me on the practices that improve my business. I listen to Kathy’s advice because she is a trusted business partner and now I am able to focus my time on helping my clients with their organizational challenges.
